Sustainability Reporting Research Internship in South Africa
SustainabilityServices.co.za – a niche consultancy specializing in the provision of independent third party assurance over sustainability reports – is seeking to recruit up to 3 interns to participate in its third annual review of sustainability reports in South Africa. Requirements include a minimum of an undergrad degree, a penchant for sustainability issues, and a willingness to participate in volunteer activities.
The roles of the selected interns would include:
- Conducting research into sustainability reporting in South Africa. This follows on from the previous research reports published (go to to download latest report).
- Participating in the writing of ‘King III & GRI +12: A review of sustainability reporting in South Africa’ with potential co-authorship mention.
- Assisting with the project management of the launch event for the research report.
In exchange for their participation in the above, SustainabilityServices.co.za will offer:
- Payment for each report reviewed, which could exceed R1 000 per day (based on the productivity of last year’s researchers, although the average was R800 per day or about US$100)
- Access to opportunities to job shadow members of the SustainabilityServices.co.za team on client engagements
- Opportunities to assist in socioeconomic development projects linked to the Soweto Marimba Youth League (SMYLe) Trust (), the Orlando Children’s Home () and/or Cotlands (): all of which are entities supported by SustainabilityServices.co.za.
The internship would start mid to late February, and would extend for roughly 3 months. Where necessary, assistance will be offered with respect to accommodation (to be discussed on a case-by-case basis).

Thanks Mehrdad!
I’ve tried working through a couple of Canadian universities, but they didn’t seem interested in getting the word out.
I can’t understand it…as last year’s interns benefitted immensely from the experience.
Cheers,
Michael

This sounds like a great opportunity – unfortunately, I’ll still be occupied with classes in February. Any chance for summer positions?
