About

This blog is maintained by Mehrdad Nazari (MSc, MBA, LEAD Fellow), Prizma's Senior ESIA, CR & Sustainability Advisor and Director. Mehrdad was previously Head of CSR Research at CoreRatings (London, now Innovest/DNV), Principal Environmental Specialist at the European Bank (EBRD, London), and Project Manager at Dames & Moore (Frankfurt, now URS).

Prizma is a niche ESIA, CR and Sustainability advisory practice (established in 2004).  We work with organizations to ensure that their operations and investments in emerging markets meet and exceed recognized international environmental, social and transparency benchmarks. These include the IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles, the EBRD Performance Requirements and the Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) sustainability reporting framework. Prizma also conducts benchmarking studies, provides assistance with sustainability reporting, is a licensed AA1000 Assurance Provider and conducts Third Party Checks for GRI Application Level declarations.

Prizma also provided expert analysis on international and social standards for an international arbitration case before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in Washington DC, and has also advised IFC/MIGA’s Compliance Advisor Ombudsman office.

Our client engagement often involves coaching, producing bankable risk/impact assessment studies (ESIA/SEAs), conducting readiness assessments (preparation for project finance related due diligence, independent engineer review, audits and assurance), public consultation, community development, NGO partnership building and other related activities.

Our team of experts typically have over 15 years of international, hands-on and senior-level experience working on capital projects which were successfully co-financed by the EBRD, IFC, Export Credit Agencies (such as Export Development Canada - EDC) and financial institutions which have adopted the Equator Principles. We also provide advanced training on the application of global guidelines and benchmarks, and coach first-time CSR and sustainability reporters.
