Prizma to Support Lucara Diamond with G4 Sustainability Reporting

Prizma was re-engaged to assist Lucara Diamond Corp., a new diamond producer, with its sustainability reporting process. Lucara’s two key assets are the Karowe mine in Botswana and the Mothae project in Lesotho. Lucara is pursuing a transition of its reporting to GRI-G4, the Global Reporting Initiative’s latest sustainability reporting guidelines.

As blogged previously, Prizma has been assisting Lucara with its sustainability reporting journey since its 2012 inaugural reporting. Prizma's other recent sustainability reporting projects include assisting the World Bank with a stakeholder panel review of its GRI-G4 reporting as well as other sustainability reporting and AA1000 assurance projects.

Lucara's sustainability report can be accessed here.

In November 2015, Lucara made headlines with the recovery of a 1,111 carat gem quality, Type IIa diamond. The magnificent stone is the world’s second largest gem quality diamond ever recovered and the largest ever to be recovered through a modern processing facility.

In December 2015, the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) named Lucara as the 2016 PDAC Award Recipient in the Environmental & Social Responsibility category. Lucara is being recognized for its stakeholder initiatives, community engagement and focus on sustainable practices and long-term benefits at their Karawoe mine in Botswana.

Prizma has been assisting Lucara throughout its sustainability reporting journey since its inaugural 2012 reporting.
